ASSADO Alberton Portuguese Restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere that blends old-world charm with modern sensibilities. Customers rave about the warm welcome and attentive service; even during busy nights, patrons feel taken care of, ensuring minimal wait times for their food.

The menu boasts a variety of Portuguese delights, with standout dishes including the perfectly cooked chicken livers and flavorful giblets that melt in your mouth. The grilled calamari, though occasionally inconsistently cooked, shines when paired with a delicious lemon butter sauce. Despite some feedback regarding a metallic taste in a chicken dish, the overall culinary experience is notably well-seasoned and satisfying. The ambiance is accentuated by an optimal temperature and tasteful music, creating a perfect spot for both casual dining and special occasions.

Though some guests noted minor imperfections—such as missing ingredients on a platter or slight overcooking of steak—the overall sentiment remains overwhelmingly positive. With plans to return for mains and continued exploration of the diverse menu, ASSADO is establishing itself as a favored dining spot in Alberton.

We traveled to the south for a birthday dinner. The restaurant patrons were welcoming and friendly. Beautiful Portuguese restaurant with old charm. The service was timely, and we didn't wait for too long for our food even though it was a busy night.

I actually love this place but the last takeaway that I purchased on 09/08/2025 was a bit unpleasant .. I ordered a full chicken special - mild with some calamari heads.. Calamari heads were great as usual but the chicken had a weird metallic after taste .. its hard to describe..I dont normally order mild so not sure if something was wrong with the sauce .. was hungry and too tired to drive back so just forced it down .. my wife and kids just had 1 piece each and abandoned it .. just posting this as feedback for the restaurant to look into

We came here for date night but we only had the starter platter (Best giblets ever and the calamari was just amazing) Our platter didn't have the chorizo though? I see the other peoples platters were complete. and some sushi. The food was good and the service was great. We will definitely be back again to try the mains. The sauce was super nice BTW. Goes well with everything!

●SERVICE (Service was great,we were always checked on and made sure we were happy, food came in a decent time and didn't take too long) ●ATMOSPHERE (Restaurant was very clean, had a great modern look and the temperature was just perfect, not too overheating, music wasn't too loud and added to the brunch) ●FOOD •CHICKEN LIVERS (Cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection, sauce was delicious and creamy, love that they made the livers abit rare as it should be) •GIBLETS (Packed with flavour, wasn't spicy at all and not too chewy, soft enough to melt in your mouth and only con would be it lacked some salt, but other than that it was delicious) •MUSSELS (Mussels were cooked perfectly, broth of the mussels was seasoned well and not too salty, you can taste all the items that went into steaming the mussels in the sauce, really great dish) •CALAMARI (Grilled calamari in lemon butter sauce which was great, some calamari was like rubber where as some were cooked perfectly, sauce was delicous and overall a great dish) •CHORIZO SAUSAGE (Honestly not a fan of it,way too hard for me and just salty although I know that's how it's suppose to be,just not something I would willingly order but was decent) •CHICKEN PASTA (Pasta was overcooked abit, other than that it was seasoned to perfection, chicken was perfectly cooked and melts in your mouth it was so tender, the creamy sauce did overpower the dish but was great overall)

My second time here... Ordered the same meal... It was so good last time... I had to come back. The steak was slightly overdone this time but still tender. Otherwise this is like a 5/5 still.. Service and food. Not a fan of the table setup but im going to be a regular ordering the same delicious meal... Sitting in the same spot by the window...

We had a great time as we celebrated our friend's birthday. We had our usual platter, and we really enjoyed prawns. We observed that quantity has dropped even thou price for the platter has gone up to R750. The rice portion was too little, and chips were cold. The service from the waiter was very poor, he even forgot to give us salad and we had to ask him now and again.
